Character's Appearance: Rookwood is a wee bit shorter than most boys are his age. He tries to make up for it by wearing Muggle hats, a bizarre habit of his. He is what some may call "unconventionally handsome". His somewhat diminutive features and stature tend to set him apart from others. His dark eyes reveal a hardened young man, old before his time. He is jittery at times, always alert, which explains why some would believe him to be a nutter.

Character's History: Augustus Rookwood was born in the country, far from civilization. He had little contact with other children, and so he depended on his loving Muggle mother and father for companionship. His parents were offered jobs in the city when he was eight, and so Rookwood and family moved to Kent, where his aunt owned a haberdashery. Whilst working the store for his aunt one day, he accidentally turned a bowler into a bowling ball. His aunt, a witch, then opened up a whole new world to him. She explained the darkness that lay over their futures. He began reading old issues of the Daily prophet, constantly bashing the ministry on its incompetence, and became obsessed with uprooting the dark wizards and witches that infested the magical world. He forgot his wish for friends, and soon grew to believe friends would only impede his progress. After reading the cruel things some wizards did to half bloods and Mudbloods, he vowed to fight the Dark Arts and all who put their faith in them. He became paranoid, and made scrutinizing customers of the store a habit of his. When his letter came, his parents were more than happy to let him go. His aunt, however, knew better, and now that Rookwood had lost his innocence, she feared he might do something drastic. She spoke with Dumbledore, and he promised to keep an eye on the boy. She also packed him an assortment of hats, the one thing, aside from his family, that he adored most in the world. He is currently in Hufflepuff, and is halfway into his sixth year.

Character's Personality: Augustus, though blessed with some of the kindest guardians throughout his life, is quite troubled, though his reasons for it are far removed from his fellow classmates. Because he hardly made any friends when he was younger, Rookwood often relates to parental figures, such as McGonagall, and has problems associating with children his age. His semi-eccentric, erratic, vigilante behavior scares away most students. Soon to be seventeen, he now constantly pulls at the short leash Dumbledore has him on, and puberty is making him restless. He needs friends other than his beloved hats.
